This past week Instagram introduced “Instagram Stories” with many applauding the update, while others looked at it as simply copying their rival Snapchat. Instagram Stories is a feature on the top of a user’s newsfeed that allows you to post and view photos that expire after 24 hours. They call this update a solution to “over posting”, however the format, look, and even name make it obvious that they were trying to lure back consumers who made the switch to Snapchat. While they do not offer filters like Snapchat, it seems as though it is when, not if, they decide to add it. Yes, the jury is still out whether this new feature will be well received with Instagram users, it does however bring in the question what updates we will see from Snapchat in response.
