4 Local Milwaukee Social Media Accounts You Have To Follow
Milwaukee is chock full (as opposed to chalk-full) of fantastic eateries, glamorous shopping boutiques, and established businesses. We’re proud of our brewing roots, our little-big city attitude and cheese. Always cheese. Even though all those aspects of Milwaukee are remarkable, it’s time for a new aspect of Milwaukee to shine in their fifteen minutes of fame. I’m talking Milwaukee Social Media.
There are the Matt Bellassai’s (BuzzFeed Matt) of the Internet world, but it’s time Milwaukee gets a chance at the limelight. This list of four Milwaukee social media accounts you should be following includes the rude, the strange, the hilarious and the blatantly honest.
Milwaukee Record
Politically correct? Absolutely not. Cares about your thoughts and opinions? Not a chance. Immensely amusing, up to date and hilarious? Most definitely. Milwaukee Record is an online publication, that examines the local music scene, local politics, getting drunk at a Taco Bell, and showcasing Milwaukee’s newest restaurants. Yes, a Milwaukee Record employee went to a Chicago Taco Bell that served alcoholic slushies and documented his drunken debauchery. It’s hilarious and a great source of local entertainment.
The Milverine
Are you a downtown Milwaukeean that is unaware of the Milverine? Listen up. There is a man, no, there is a machine that stomps around Milwaukee and his name is: The Milverine. He’s always shirtless, has bigger guns than The Rock, and has thicker muttonchops than The Wolverine himself. He’s generally spotted at Summerfest, Brady Street Days, The Third Ward, and generally wherever there are people to gawk, stare, and scream bloody murder. The Milverine is a force to be reckoned with, but definitely ask to take a picture with him; he’s a really friendly guy. His Facebook page is nothing short of brilliance.
Red Light Ramen
If you’re a foodie in Milwaukee, you may have experienced Red Light Ramen, but if not… Red Light Ramen is actually Ardent by day, an upscale restaurant that is tucked away in the lower level of a red brick building on Milwaukee’s lower east side. However, at the stroke of 11:30pm on Friday’s and Saturday’s, Ardent turns into Red Light Ramen. A raucous environment, with great loud music, spiked slushies, PBR, and of course: Ramen. The chefs create one batch of delicious, sodium packed, Ramen per night, and that’s the only thing on the menu. It’s a scrumptious treat to end a long night of imbibing.
But, before you head there, make sure you follow their Twitter account. Every Friday and Saturday, they go on a posting frenzy that includes the hilarious, the disgusting, the raunchy, the rude, the politically incorrect, and everything in between. As a fair warning, some of the images and comments are extremely inappropriate. Like REALLY inappropriate, you may want to check this out when your boss isn’t staring at your screen.
JS Comments
This is one account that I immediately fell in love with the second I saw a few of their tweets. The account, JS Comments, is solely tweets that are actual comments on JS Online articles, and they’re down right hilarious. As much as it pains to see the ignorance of so many Milwaukeeans, it also gives me one hell of a good laugh. You’ll see a ton of Tweets about the Packers, Brewers, and politics. Some are so ridiculous, you actually don’t know if someone actually said that. But alas, some poor soul did. If you’re in need of a good, local laugh, give JS Comments a follow.
